The Tripper
Article by IMDB.com Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
In the 80's, after seeing his father and lumberjack foreman being hit by a protestor against the deforesting and arrested by the police, the boy Gus kills the protestor with a chainsaw. In the present days, Samantha, who is traumatized after being abused by her former boyfriend Jimmy, travels with her pothead friends in a van to the American Free Love Festival, a rock-and-roll concert in the woods. Near the location, they are assaulted by three local hillbillies, but they succeed to arrive in the festival. Meanwhile, Mayor Hal Burton and Deputy Buzz Hall try to give a minimum of organization to the event. However, a deranged psychopath serial-killer wearing a mask of Ronald Reagan uses an ax to kill the pacific stoned hippies.
Movie Review by Weed Nation
Eric Cartman hates hippies and would love this movie. I don't have an affinity for hippies, but Eric Cartman I'm not. But I have to admit, watching hippies find their demise in this low-budget THC thriller was relatively fun to watch.
Does that mean that it is any good? Well, no. Like I've said in the past, horror movies pretty much suck and this movie is no exception to the rule.
The Tripper is what would happen if Jason thought he was Ronald Reagan, had a grudge against tree-loving hippies then stumbled upon a Grateful Dead concert in the middle of a forest. The result, lots and lots of dead hippies.
I will say this, though cheesy, the acting in The Tripper is better than any Jason movie. But that's to be expected when you take a look at the cast. I'm just not sure why they took the roles. It must be out of friendship to the David Arquette and Courtney Cox, because I can see no other reason Jason Mewes would join the cast. Because this is by no means a career advancing movie.
That said, this is still a movie that many of you might enjoy, especially Eric Cartman.
