Stephanie Landa

Landa in 2006
Stephanie Landa is an American Marijuana activist and former Federal Medical Cannabis Prisoner. On January 4, 2007, Landa a 60-year old mother, and caregiver to her elderly mother, was sentenced to 41 months in Federal Prison in Northern California for growing a legal medical cannabis garden under California Law.
Despite the fact that she was growing my garden with the full knowledge and sanction of the San Francisco Police Department (and just blocks from their headquarters) a rogue officer of their Narcotics Division turned her over for Federal Prosecution.
Stephanie, along with others in 2002, was given permission as well as guidelines from SFPD Captain Kevin Cashman to grow medical cannabis for the collectives in the SF Bay Area. The garden was established around the corner from the SF police department by request of the department for the purpose of the garden and gardeners’ safety.
The garden was raided by SFPD Lt. Martin Halloran and a few weeks later Stephanie Landa, Tom Kikuchi and actor Kevin Gage were brought up on federal charges although no federal agents were ever present at the raid.
Landa was represented by Los Angeles based marijuana attorney Allison Margolin, she turned herself in to federal custody in 2007 and was released in June of 2009 after additional time was added to her sentence for testing positive for THC while in custody.
