Nate Dogg
Nate Dogg, (Nathaniel Dwayne Hale August 19, 1969), is an American vocalist and crooner, often called the “Voice of Hip Hop”. Born in Long Beach, Ca, Nate Dogg began his singing career at New Hope Trinity Baptist Church choir in Clarksdale, Mississippi where his father (Daniel Lee Hale) was pastor.
After dropping out of high school Nate Dogg joined the US Marine Corps where he would serve 3 years. Upon his return home he reconnected with his cousin Snoop Dogg and childhood friend Warren G. The threesome would form the hip hop group 213, recording their demo album at the back of the VIP record store in Long Beach. The demo tape was heard by Warren G’s brother and N.W.A founding member Dr. Dre, who was impressed with both Snoop’s lyrical flow and Nate Dogg’s soulful crooning.
Dre recruited Nate and Snoop for his solo debut album “The Chronic” ,which was released in 1992 by Death row Records. He would later release “Indo Smoke” with Warren G and Mr. Grimm in 1993 and the number 1 hit “Regulate” with Warren G in 1994.
Firmly cemented as a Hip Hop icon, Nate Dogg has had successful collaborative efforts with 50 Cent, Ludacris, Chico and Coolwadda, Shade Shiest, N.W.A founding member Ice Cube and many more. He is also credited as the spokesperson for Da Bomb Blunts.
On Dec 19,2007 Nate Dogg was admitted to Pomona Valley hospital after suffering a stroke. He would later suffer a second stroke on September 15, 2008.
